Mike Stone is a patent attorney with the firm. He is a graduate of the George Mason University School of Law. Mike also holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, with highest honors, from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a Masters degree in Education from Harvard University.
Mike began his career in intellectual property as a Patent Examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. where he examined patent applications drawn to inventions classified in the fields of robotics, conveyors and material handling.
Subsequently, Mike joined an intellectual property law firm in Washington, D.C. Mike practiced with this firm for ten years, the last five of which he served as a Partner in the firm.
Mike has prepared and prosecuted patent applications for some of the world's largest industrial and electronics companies. Mike has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in such diverse technologies as semiconductor device and package manufacturing, plastic blow and injection molding machinery, electronic and hydraulic machine controls, steel manufacturing, and image recognition system. Mike is experienced in all phases of patent prosecution, and has argued cases before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Moreover, Mike has helped U.S. clients procure and maintain international patent portfolios. Mike’s experience also extends to patent licensing and technology transfers.
Mike is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
