Dave Ward is a Patent Attorney of the firm.
Dave is a graduate of George Mason University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Electronics Engineering, University of Virginia with a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, and George Mason University School of Law with a Juris Doctor in Law and in Intellectual Property Law.
As a registered patent attorney, Dave has more than fifteen years of experience prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and internationally and has prosecuted more than 600 patent applications to issuance after overcoming a substantive rejection applied to the application. He has appealed dozens of patent application rejections before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and presented oral arguments before the Board in many of the appeals. His prosecution experience extends to wireless/wired/power-line/near-field communication, cellular telecommunication, optics, semiconductors, electrical circuits, motors and motor controllers, signal processing, parallel processing, optical and semiconductor data storage devices, aviation flight-assistance, fuel cells, encryption, and networking.
Before entering the field of intellectual property, Dave practiced as a communication and systems integration engineer. He developed systems for dynamically distributing satellite and terrestrial communication resources in real-time and near real-time to clients through scheduled, as-needed, and prioritized bases. He developed systems for supporting communication among incompatible communication devices and designed and produced devices for detecting and acquiring communication signals.
Dave is a member of the Virginia Bar and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and is a registered patent attorney before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
